WASHINGTON...How do i get to the MT Pilchuck trail?
tomorrow i am going to hike mt. pilchuck for the first time but i dont know how to get to the trail... and i am unable to find it on google maps... also is the trail easy to follow... please help...
It's off the Mountain Loop Highway, east of Granite Falls.
The directions are on the web but Google maps usually isn't a very good resource for things like this.
Note that the current trail conditions for Mt. Pilchuck trail as of July 12 are:
Snow still covers the upper portion of this trail. Patchy snow begins approx 1.75 miles up trail, approx 2 feet deep at 4,500’ elevation. Route finding and winter travel skills and equipment necessary.
If you don't have the winter gear and skills necessary to do a rocky trail with 2 ft of snow covering your trail, then this isn't the trail for you this time. Based on the questions you are asking, I'd say that this one may be beyond your capabilities at this time. Try again in late August when the snow should be melted!
Also don't forget that a recreation pass is needed for parking at the trail head.
